How to Get to Brienz
By Public Transport
The train station at Brienz connects the lake to the Swiss train network. It takes about 2 hours and 30 minutes to reach Brienz from Zurich on the train. From Interlaken, the train ride takes just about 20 minutes, though I would suggest taking the boat from Interlaken to Brienz since it’s so much more fun!
If you are coming from Lucerne, you Brienz is a stop on the scenic Luzern – Interlaken Express route (part of the GoldenPass Line) which runs between Lucerne and Interlaken Ost. This will take about 1 hour and 30 minutes.
By Car
You can reach Brienz from Interlaken via the A8 highway in 25 minutes. The access roads are well developed and there are rarely traffic jams. Parking spaces are available in the immediate vicinity of the Brienz valley station and are signposted. There is a charge for parking – a whole day costs CHF 8.00.
If you are driving, it takes you approximately 1.5 hours to reach Brienz from Zurich. There are lots of parking options available at the tiny village – there are very large parking lots at the Brienz train station and at the Rothorn station a little inside the village. There are also several parking lots along the lake promenade as you drive into the village.
